Barbara became obsessed with a childhood story, after her father died. She enjoyed paying a naughty game in the bedroom with her husband, where she was his genie, obliged to obey his every whim. At first it was good for both of them, but he became tired of the game. Working away from home and coming home tired, she thought he was tired of her. No longer able to play the fantasy in the bedroom, she took to being a genie when he wasn't home.
She became obsessed with the fantasy life, and began to believe in it too much. When she found an old lamp in a cardboard box, one that her father gave her when she was little, it became the focus of her games. Darren decided to teach her a lesson, and break her of the fixation. After a row he stormed off to the spare bedroom, and next day left on a business trip. How there marriage was going to survive she didn't know, and felt lonely and abandoned.
She sank deeper into the fantasy letting it take over her life. Watching re-runs of her favourite television show, and re-reading the children's story book, she settled into a routine. What was she going to do when her husband returned, she didn't know or but she did care. After all he was her husband and as a genie she should obey him as her master.
