Why not, since said author agreed to do a book signing at Darcy's bookstore, and that's bound to bring in more business. Not to mention that's going to satisfy Becca's crush on said author. What could go wrong at an auction for an old desk? Nothing, but what happens after the auction raises eyebrows.
